TPG Mobile runs on the Vodafone network, and its voicemail lives behind one number: 121. The first call walks you through choosing a PIN, recording your name, and setting your time zone — and if you hold the line, you can record a fully custom greeting straight away. TPG also has a family of handy shortcodes: 1211 for diversions, 1213 to cancel them, 1217 for iPhone Visual Voicemail, and 1218 for TXT alerts. Below is the full walkthrough, plus how to get a professionally produced recording onto your TPG line.
Open the phone app and call 121. Voicemail is set up and accessed through this number. (iPhone user? You can also dial 1217 to activate Visual Voicemail and manage everything from the Phone app's Voicemail tab.)
Choose a 4 to 10-digit PIN — no sequential numbers (1234) or repeats (7777). You'll need this PIN to check your voicemail from another phone via 0414 121 121, so pick something memorable.
The prompts ask you to record your name (used in the standard greeting) and select your state or territory to set the correct time zone for message timestamps.
Don't hang up after the basics — stay on the line and follow the prompts to record a custom voicemail greeting and set your notification preferences (SMS alerts are on by default). Keep your greeting between 15 and 25 seconds for the best results.
Already have a greeting and want to replace it? Dial 121 and follow the prompts to the greeting options, then record a new greeting — it overwrites the old one as soon as you save. You can change it as often as you like, which is handy for annual leave or public holiday messages.
From any other phone, call 0414 121 121; from overseas, call +61 414 121 121. Follow the prompts and enter your mobile number and voicemail PIN, and you'll get the same menu as at home — including the greeting options. If you haven't set a PIN yet, do it before you travel.
TPG's voicemail shortcodes make managing the service easy: dial 1211 to set up call diversions to voicemail (when you're unreachable, engaged, or switched off), 1213 to cancel diversions so your phone simply rings out, 1217 to activate Visual Voicemail on iPhone (mobile data must be on), and 1218 to activate TXT alerts. To extend your ring time before voicemail answers, call TPG support or use the prompts under 121.
TPG records greetings through the handset, so there's no upload button — but there's a reliable workaround used by thousands of businesses:
Phone lines compress audio heavily, so a well-mastered recording captured this way sounds virtually identical to a direct upload.

"Hi, you've reached [Your Name] at [Your Business]. I can't take your call right now, but leave your name, number, and a brief message after the tone and I'll ring you back as soon as I can. Thank you."
Hear This Script"Thank you for calling [Your Business]. We're open Monday to Friday, 9am to 5.30pm. Please leave a message after the tone, or email us at [email address], and we'll get back to you within one business day."

The TPG voicemail number is 121. Dial it from your TPG mobile handset to set up and access voicemail. From another phone, call 0414 121 121 (or +61 414 121 121 from overseas) and enter your mobile number and voicemail PIN.
Call 121 from your TPG mobile and follow the prompts to the greeting options to record a new custom greeting. During first-time setup, hold the line after setting your PIN and name — the prompts continue to the custom greeting option.
Yes. iPhone users on TPG can activate Visual Voicemail by dialling 1217, then following the steps in the Voicemail tab of the Phone app. Mobile data must be turned on for Visual Voicemail to work.
TPG doesn't offer a direct file upload for personal voicemail greetings. The reliable workaround is to play a professionally produced MP3 from a second device close to your phone's microphone while recording your greeting via 121. Phone lines compress audio heavily, so a well-mastered recording captured this way sounds virtually identical to a direct upload.
If calls aren't diverting to voicemail, dial 1211 to set up the standard diversions (when unreachable, engaged, or switched off). To cancel diversions so your phone simply rings out, dial 1213. If problems persist, restart your phone or contact TPG support.
